Sky Tower, Auckland

» The Sky Tower is a TV tower built in 1997. It is 328 m high. It is the 13th in the list of the World Federation of Great Towers.
»  When the tower was constructed, the impact of 8 magnitude earthquakes and violent storms with a wind speed of 200 km/h.
»  On the TV tower, there are three observation platforms at different heights. Three glass lifts accommodate 225 people. You can reach the top within 40 seconds.
»  In the tower, there are a lot of halls for business meetings, exhibitions, and banquets. People can visit 11 restaurants and 10 pubs. In the territory of the TV tower, there is also a casino.
»  During celebrations of the New Year, spectacular fireworks are displayed from the observation platform of the tower.

War Memorial Museum, Auckland

» The Auckland War Memorial Museum is located in a big plain building on a green hill that was the top of a volcano once.
»  Its history started in 1852. In 1869, the museum was supervised by the University of Auckland. Only in 1929, the museum moved to the building that had been built specifically for it.
»  Its exhibits tell not only about the military history of New Zealand, but also about ethnographic artifacts of Maori. Here, you can also see a tyrannosaur’s skeleton an old canoe that is 25 m long and was made of a solid mahogany trunk.
»  Remarkably, soldiers of Auckland participated in both First and Second World Wars. In the halls dedicated to military history, you can see the names of the dead.

Eden Park, Auckland

Town Hall, Auckland

» The Town Hall of Auckland is one of the few historic buildings built at the beginning of the 20th century. It was designed by architects JJ & EJ Clarke who had to build it on a small gusset plot of land. Near the Town Hall, there is a high tower with a dome, a spire, and a clock.
»  In the Town Hall, important municipal and state events are held. Eminent people were welcomed here at APEC meetings: Eleanor Roosevelt, Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Bill Clinton.
»  During the reconstruction in 1994-1997, a concert hall with over 1 500 spectators’ seats was added. Such famous musicians, as Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles performed here.
»  In the Town Hall, there were the biggest organ in New Zealand made in 1911. It was restored by O. Claeys, a master from Bonn. He used some parts of an old organ to restore the new one. In 2010, the organ sounded.

Facts: » Holy Trinity Cathedral is a modern temple built of glass and stone in 1995. However, the first stone was laid into the foundation in 1957.
»  In the 18th century, a bell tower a small wooden church named after St. Mary were built. Today, the church is still located near the cathedral.
»  The inner rooms are transparent and light due to multiple big stained glass windows depicting Polynesian and Europeans pictures.
»  This cathedral is a place that attracts many people from Auckland.

Preferred to Open 9 New Hotels in 2022

This building is a true landmark of Frogner, a historic neighborhood of the Norwegian capital.
