Salzburg is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Austria. Its historical part is a landmark of world importance. The center of the historic district of Salzburg is Residenzplatz built in 17th century. The most important historical sites, including the archbishop's residence, which was built in 1619, are found around it.

The center of the square is crowned with the famous Rezidenzbrunnen Fountain. There are many religious sites in the historic district of Salzburg, including the Benedictine Abbey of St. Peter, which was founded in the 7th century. Another striking religious monument is the Cathedral, which was consecrated in 774.

While strolling around the historic district of Salzburg, you can see many old majestic palaces and gardens. You can also visit the legendary fortress of Hohensalzburg. The area of this fortress is 30 000 square meters. That’s one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. A number of museums and galleries in the old town can’t be calculated precisely. The Mozart Residence, the Baroque Museum in the Mirabell Garden, and the Stiegl-Brauwelt beer brewery are considered the most amazing.
