Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald, Germany

From series “Elegant Architectural Structures for Fans of Skywalks”
Height: 25 meters.

Travelers who want to have a look at the amazing natural attractions from a height have to go to Germany, to the Bavarian National Park. This nature reserve is the biggest in Europe. A significant part of its area is covered by forests. Here an unusual wooden tower with a complicated name Baumwipfelpfad was built among impenetrable thickets of trees. That's a complex of wooden bridges and tracks, which ends with a dome with a spiral staircase. At the top of the dome, which is directed upwards by 25 meters, there is an observation deck.

Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald, Germany The author of the unusual tower of the project is the architect Josef Shteger. Only environmentally friendly materials, i.e. wood and steel, were used in construction. The tower is designed in such a way that even people with physical disabilities are free to move around the surrounding bridges and stairs. Visitors of the complex will have an amazing opportunity to literally walk among the treetops. You can do a lot of great photos from the observation deck.

It is noteworthy that Baumwipfelpfad tower does not harm the unique nature reserve, and also helps to keep its pristine beauty. Tourists move on the ground covered with wooden bridges and don’t trample the soil, otherwise considerable damage to the park would be caused because of the huge number of visitors. The dome tower has an amazing secret. Three huge fir trees grow right inside of it. Visitors can see the composition in all its glory while climbing up. Next - Casa Brutale

Top destination around Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald - Malmedy

More than a thousand and five hundred years ago, Malmedy was a part of the independent Principality of Stavelot-Malmedy. This was one of the few independent regions of the Roman Empire. In the mid-7th century, a Benedictine monastery was established in the territory of the modern city. After the opening of the monastery, the settlement started attracting numerous pilgrims from the neighboring regions. For centuries, Malmedy remained an important religious center. An important event for the history of the settlement happened in 1815. After the defeat of Napoleon, the city was added to Prussia. Malmedy turned into a part of the Rhine region.

Only after the defeat of Prussia in World War I, Malmedy officially became a territory of Belgium. An interesting fact – the city got its current official territorial status relatively not long ago, in 1977. This is the year when two villages – Beverse and Bellevaux-Ligneuville – officially joined the city. This peculiarity certainly had an impact on the atmosphere of Malmedy, giving it a decent countryside vibe that charms numerous tourists nowadays.
