Templo Libertad Synagogue, Argentina

From series “The most luxury and famous synagogues”
Year: 1898.

Templo Libertad Synagogue is located next to Plaza Lavalle in Buenos Aires. It has been considered a historical monument of national significance since 2000. Construction of the religious monument began in the late 19th century. It was fully completed in 1898. The Jewish community living in Buenos Aires increased significantly in the coming decades. This led to the need to rebuild the synagogue. It acquired its current features in 1932. The best architects in Argentina worked on the design of the new building.

Templo Libertad Synagogue, Argentina Experts have some difficulties in accurately defining the architectural style of the synagogue even today. This building harmoniously combines features of the Byzantine and Romanesque styles. One of the main decorations of the facade is a large semicircular arch. It is complemented by stucco decorations. The Star of David is located in its center. The synagogue hall has an impressive scale. It is designed for 1,000 parishioners. The floor is laid with beautiful granite tiles. Massive wooden furniture has been installed in the synagogue since its foundation. One of the main decorations of the synagogue is an old organ.

Another important cultural institution is located next to a religious monument. This is the Dr. Salvador Kibrick Jewish Museum. You can see an interesting collection of historical, artistic, and religious exhibits in this museum. The interesting museum was opened in 1967. A significant part of the exhibition is made up of personal belongings of Jewish immigrants. They migrated to Argentina in the 19th century. You can also see their saved documents. Top destination around Templo Libertad Synagogue - Buenos Aires

A building considered completely unusual for the Latin American capital can be found on Avenue Brasil. We are referring to Iglesia Apostolica Ortodoxa Rusa, the stronghold of Orthodoxy in the Catholic city. The temple is very beautiful and majestic, matching the capital of Argentina. Among other cathedrals, it is worth noting the Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento, which is awarded various epithets, among which are “majestic” and “divine”. Basilica Nuestra Senora de la Merced also stands out against the background of the others. Inside are hidden beautiful works of art (altar, frescoes, and stained-glass windows). In addition, the church was at different times an important historical center.

One of the most colorful places in the capital of Argentina is the flamboyant Galeria Bond Street. This is one of the most fashionable places in the city. While passing here, you can stumble on rock shops, tattoo parlors, and be sure to make a selfie there. Another interesting place in the city is Avenida del Libertador. Rightfully considered the most beautiful avenue in the city, on the way here you can meet majestic trees, interesting sculptural structures, fashionable houses, and restaurants. The whole area is built in one style – art deco. Edificio Kavanagh, once the tallest building in the world (in 1934, at the time of its construction), today continues to please the eyes of all tourists and locals.
