The locals love beer, meeting annually and inviting city guests to visit three main festivals dedicated to the foamy drink. The first festival is held in mid-April and is called the International Beer Festival. Visiting the event, you can try more than a hundred varieties of beer, represented by companies from around the world. The festival takes place in the Festival Pavilion, which is located on the territory of the Fort Mason Center. The second beer event takes place in mid-July at the Marin County Fair & Exposition complex. Its peculiarity is that all the money realized during the festival goes to a charity fund in support of women diagnosed with breast cancer. The picturesque Pier 48 becomes the venue for the famous German festival, Oktoberfest. Here, it is called Oktoberfest by the Bay and is held at the same time as its German counterpart.
At the beginning of June, music lovers have a great opportunity to visit the SF Free Folk Festival for absolutely free and to improve their knowledge of folk music in all its manifestations. They also get to attend dance and craft workshops. You can do all of these in Cyprian’s Center. At the same time, that is, at the beginning of June, guests of the city have another chance to enjoy the ethnic component, by visiting the Ethnic Dance Festival. The venue for this festival is the center Palace of Fine Arts Theater, where through dancing the cultures of not only the United States but also other countries (Mexico, Colombia, South Korea, and Spain, among others) are celebrated.
