The first festival is held in mid-April and is called the International Beer Festival. The festival takes place in the Festival Pavilion, which is located on the territory of the Fort Mason Center. The second beer event takes place in mid-July at the Marin County Fair & Exposition complex. Its peculiarity is that all the money realized during the festival goes to a charity fund in support of women diagnosed with breast cancer. The picturesque Pier 48 becomes the venue for the famous German festival, Oktoberfest. Here, it is called Oktoberfest by the Bay and is held at the same time as its German counterpart.
