One of the most beautiful monuments of architecture in the city is the Gohlis Palace. It was built in the 18th century for a city official. Now, the historical building, surrounded by a lush garden, is run by the state.
The unique St. Thomas Church that was built in the 13th century is preserved in the city. For a long history of existence, it survived many reconstructions. The church is a spectacular architectural monument in the Late Gothic style. For the whole world, this church is largely known for to the fact that on its territory is the grave of the world-famous composer Johann Sebastin Bach. During his lifetime, he served in the church as a cantor. A hundred years ago, a sculpture of the musician was installed in the square next to the church.
Fans of classical music in Leipzig will be interested to visit another place â€“ the Mendelssohn House Museum. In the city, there is an old house in which Felix Mendelssohn spent the last years of his life. In the historical building, the atmosphere of the past was kept as much as possible. Here, the belongings of the famous composer, his letters and various historical documents were preserved.
