In this city are well-developed such industries as machine building, fur, sewing, and chemical industries. Starting from XV century this place has also become a large publishing center and a center of trading (fur auctions and fair trades).
Tourists are recommended to visit Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Crafts, Ethnographic Museum, German Museum of Books and many more. The old town hall may also catch your attention. It is used to keep the exhibition of Museum of History of Leipzig. The building has been made during the Renaissance period and is surrounded by living quarters of the same period.
Among the sights of the Leipzig are also the Church of St. Thomas built in the gothic style, in which worked the great German composer I.S. Bach, where he managed the church chorus; Supreme Court; Leipzig Gewandhaus that is also the location of the local philharmonic; Monument of Fight of the Nations that features an observation area that is 91 meter high – the tallest monument in Europe, which honors the events of 1813; St. Nicolas Church – the largest and the oldest church of the city. Behind the Old Town Hall you will also find the building of the old exchange made in the baroque style. Many years ago in this building gathered representatives of merchants. Tourists may also find interesting visiting the building of the new Town Hall and the memorial church devoted to Russian soldiers.
Children are recommended to attend Leipzig Zoo that is famous for wide choice of primates and the largest aquarium of Europe.
