Despite its status of a capital, Bern (Switzerland) is a relatively small city, with population less than 130,000 inhabitants. Bern seems to have done better than most other European cities in preserving its unique medieval townscape. Over centuries, little change has taken place on the city's look, except maybe for cars, trams, and traffic signs.
