The main treat of the festival is still the Parma ham being a favorite sort of meat for gourmands of all over the world. Within the festival the guests are treated with more than 60 thousands of dishes added with Parma ham. The main participants of the festival are the companies producing the ham. Commonly there are about 150 companies participating in the festival annually. Company representatives demonstrate the best samples of their products to the guests of the event. Within a year the companies produce more than 10 millions of pigs feet which are distributed to all countries of the globe literally.
The most interesting event of the festival takes part on the Garibaldi Square. A grand fair is held there within the last days of the festival. Form early morning till late night the square is crowded. The guests of the festival eat about 700 kilograms of ham and drink more than three thousands of glasses of wine during the ham holiday.
Each year the Finistere Aperte (Open Windows) program is held within the festival. The program enables the guests and participants of the fest to take part in the process of production of ham as well as suggests various tastings, exhibitions and festive concerts. A production center of the popular ham treat is considered to be the Langhirano commune. The area hosts several large companies as well as the popular Museum of Parma Ham located in the Bocchialini street.
