Elmina Castle Prison

This castle has been used for the detention of prisoners since its construction for more than 300 years. Many of the prisoners of Elmina Castle were sold as slaves. It is estimated that about 30,000 slaves were sold in the castle annually during the Middle Ages. The conditions of their detention were appalling. The prisoners were locked in cramped cages. Bosumtwi lake is considered one of the main natural attractions of Ghana. The crater specialty lies in tektites, which are fragments of the relatively rare type of comet meteorites. Just to get on, let’s say that by now about 170 impact craters are investigated, and tektites have been found on the territory of only 4 of them, including the Bosumtwi Crater.
