A special place among the prominent attractions of France belongs to the Palace of Versailles. Its construction began in the second half of the 17th century by order of Louis XIV. For hundreds of years, graceful Versailles remained the residence of the French kings. The gorgeous palace impresses with its scale and luxurious design. One of the most amazing points in history of Versailles is the fact that all the bills, one way or another connected with the construction of the palace, have survived to these days. According to current estimates, the sum spent on the construction is incredible. It makes out 259.6 billion euros. Almost half of this amount was spent on interior decoration of the palace. It takes several hours to appreciate the majesty of one of the most luxurious palaces of Europe. Each room is full of antique jewelry and works of art. Some premises have an absolutely stunning elegant finish of walls and ceiling.
