Soho Synagogue, USA

From series “The most luxury and famous synagogues”
Soho synagogue is a unique attraction. It is located on the territory of Lower Manhattan in New York City. A resident by the name of Dovi Schneider is the founder. He and his wife decided to convert the old boutique into a house of worship. Designer Dror Benshetrit developed the original interior of the synagogue at the request of the spouses. It is more like an art gallery than a religious institution in the usual sense of the word by design today. Jews who live in the vicinity of Soho are the main visitors to the synagogue. They are all very modern people. Therefore, they were sympathetic to the unusual design of the religious institution.

Moreover, many visitors to the synagogue are artists and architects. Therefore, the unusual design does not bother them at all. Soho became the world's first synagogue adapted to the modern lifestyle. You won't be able to see traditional religious attributes here. Even the menorah and the Torah ark are just painted on the wall here. Special pews were installed in the prayer hall. They can be easily folded and removed if necessary.

Soho synagogue has been used for a wide variety of public events since opening. It's not easy to find a religious landmark on your own. The fact is that the clothing store was located in the building in the past. Its appearance has not changed at all during the conversion. A large display case is also preserved in it. Therefore, it may seem at first glance that this is the most ordinary boutique. Only a small illuminated sign allows you to recognize the synagogue among a series of buildings with storefronts. Top destination around Soho Synagogue - New York

Local drugstores are no less surprising. In addition to medicines you can buy literally everything there, including household appliances. During a rest in one of the parks of the city visitors are literally attacked by flocks of squirrels. Little animals are absolutely not afraid of people and have even become the symbol of the city. Feeding tamed squirrels has become of the most popular entertainments for travellers. This exciting and interesting entertainment is enjoyed not only people but also by nice fluffy creatures. Bikes are very popular among the local people. However, this type of transport is more a way to deal with huge traffic jams, rather than the expression of care about environment. In New York you can see bicyclists on all roads of the city and in any weather.
However, local residents are distinguished by love to sport and care about their health. Simply every part of the city is equipped with special roads for runners. On mornings people of all ages go out to make a morning workout. Many people come with their families. The New Yorkers have quite a peculiar attitude towards alcohol. Drinking it on the streets is strictly prohibited. If you go to a supermarket, you'll notice that there only beer on the shelves. In order to buy other liquors, you will need to go to a specialty store. When buying liquor, a salesman will certainly ask you to show a proof of identity – any sale of alcohol to persons under 21 is prohibited.

Fastfood Stands - steel trays with food – have become a unique tourist attraction. No need to say that the choice of food in all of them is not limited to hamburgers and hot dogs only. Many tents offer such dishes as roasted meat, vegetable salads, and fresh pastries.
