Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, Canada. The lake area is just about 500 square meters and 14 meters deep. However, it is hard to find the more beautiful lake in the world. Walter Wilcox is the first person who had found this unique wonderful lake. When he saw it, he couldn’t take eyes from it for about half an hour. Later, in the memoirs, he wrote that those thirty minutes were the happiest time in his life.
The lake has placed in a secure mountain range. That was the main reason why people didn’t know about it for a long time. When the glaciers melt, the water has deep sapphire color. The lake looks fantastic among the mountain masses. The best month for visiting the lake is June. At this time the glaciers actively melt and the lake increases in the maximum grants.
The lake is open for visiting only from May to September. In other months the mountain road is closed for safety reasons. You can get to the lake by car from the nearby town Calgary. Several years ago, there was opened a tourism route. As a part of the excursion, travellers can visit the small mountain village. It will take half an hour to get there.
