Miami International Airport is a civilian airport of the international level. It is located 14 km away from the city centre. This is the largest airport not only of the city, but also of the State of Florida. The airport started functioning in 1938. It is one of the leading airports in terms of the volume of international flights. The airport encompasses four runways and three terminals. The North Terminal, the South Terminal and the Central Terminal are divided into the concourses (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and J), co-located in one building. They are connected with each other by travelators. Passengers take advantage of the Skytrain for rapid movement between the terminals.
The city of Miami is connected with the airport by such means of transport as public buses, underground train, taxi, shuttle, and rental cars. A bus stop is situated at the exit from Terminal E. 9 bus routes lead to different parts of the city. An airport automated train departs from the third level of the passenger terminal. This train takes passengers to the underground and the railway station. One can also get there by free shuttle.
