There is also an important architectural landmark - the Town Hall building dating back to 1795. Today, the unique ancient building is a landmark of national importance. The building has repeatedly changed its status over the years. The very first city council meeting took place in this building in 1799, and later it becomes the Louisiana Supreme Court building. Today, the Town Hall houses the Louisiana State Museum with a rich collection of historical and art exhibits within its walls.
One of the most beautiful places in the city is the charming City Park. The area of the park covering more than 1,300 hectares accommodates a small Botanical Garden and the Museum of Art. Old sculptures installed in the garden are of particular tourist interest. In addition, there are many playgrounds and all kinds of rides for small children. The park has a huge historical value, as here you can find a small oak grove with 800-year-old trees growing here.
Many travelers know New Orleans as a place where the annual Mardi Gras Festival is held. Every year the city plunges into a unique atmosphere of fun and extravaganza for several days. Guests of the festival are happy to watch bright costumed processions, performances of street artists dedicated to modern culture, and, of course, to try many national specialties.
