Frankfurt am Main Airport is one of the largest international airports in Europe with intense traffic. It is the fourth in the list of the largest European airports. It is located 11 km from Frankfurt, one of the centers of European economic development. The airport was founded in 1936 as a commercial facility and a base for airships. Then, the airport was transformed into a military base. Every year, the airport services over 65 million people in two master terminals and the special terminal used only by the Lufthansa Company. The airfield consists of four air-strips.
There are three concourses in Terminal 1: A, B, C. Terminal 2 includes concourses D and E. You can move between terminals by the automated system Skyline and free shuttles.
At the airport, there are two railway stations including one for long-distance trains, Inter City Express. Near T1 (zone B), there is a railway station for suburban and regional trains. Bus stops are located at the arrival level of T1 and at the second level near T2. The airport is linked with Frankfurt by bus routes. At the airport, there is also a wide choice of taxis, cars, transfers, and car-sharing services.
