Riverdance Wrecks, United Kingdom

From series “The Surviving Remains of Shipwrecks You Can Observe Yourself”
Passenger-and-freight ferry "Riverdance" now has found its eternal anchorage near Blackpool, Lancashire, Britain. It has happened in 2008 during the huge storm. The ship was transported about a thousand packages of McVitie’s cookies. Then, after the wreck, the shore was full of them. The ship crew consisted of 14 people, all of them struggled to the last breath to save the ship and its cargo.

Riverdance Wrecks, United Kingdom However, the storm was by far stronger than the crew. The speed of wind went up to 110 kilometres per hour, and wave height was over 7 meters. The ship was leaned for 45 degrees by one of such strong waves, in this position it has left forever. All crew was saved but the huge ship has left on this sandy coast. At first, this enormous passenger-and-freight ferry has to be taken away by the state government. They planned to cut it and remove separately. But within weeks the ferry became a popular touristic landmark. That’s why it was decided not to remove the wrecked ship. Next - Kaiolohia Wrecks
