The Medieval Bolton Castle is considered to be one of the most well-preserved and interesting places to visit in the UK. Its construction began in 1378 and lasted more than 20 years, it is in this castle, Scottish Queen Mary Stuart remained in custody in the second half of the 16th century. Today, visitors of the castle are able to take a stroll along its ancient halls and to look into the most hidden corners; there is even a national restaurant “Bolton Castle Tea Room” located in the castle. Special attractions are the ancient gardens surrounding the castle, which are incredibly interesting, too. Today in the gardens more than 50 kinds of herbs and spices grow, many of which are used for cooking in the restaurant.
