The apartment of the famous designer Donna Karan is imbued with Buddhist calm and harmony. She tried to make her home as comfortable as possible for relaxation and immersion in nirvana. In this way, the world-famous designer wants to take a break from the hustle and bustle of a bustling metropolis. Simplicity and sophistication take place in the design of the apartment. They are perfectly combined in various details and perfectly complement each other. Natural linen fabrics of natural shades were used in the decoration of the walls. There are many beautiful Buddhist-style paintings and figurines in the house.
Light matte shades prevail in the interior of the rooms. Only the design of the kitchen was made in rich ink tones. There is a spacious balcony in the apartment. It is furnished with solid wooden furniture. There is also a very nice bathroom in the apartment. It has a large panoramic window and access to an outdoor terrace. As Donna Karan notes, she chose her current apartment for the beautiful view from the window. There is a small binocular on a convenient stand on the balcony. Donna Karan can view nearby attractions with it.
The owner created the very first interior of the apartment herself. Black tones dominated it. Donna wanted the changes over time. She decided to completely change the interior. She asked good friends to help her with this. These are the designers Dominic Kozerski and Enrico Bonetti. The apartment has become not only brighter and more harmonious but also more multifunctional after the renovation. There is a small spa, a Buddhist center, and Donna's reception room in it today. There is also a special meditation room in the apartment.
The open layout became characteristic of many rooms of the apartment after the conversion. Only the mistress's bedroom remains securely hidden from prying eyes. Strict black and white tones still prevail in the interior of the apartment. Numerous paintings, photographs, and books help to make the environment more "alive". Many of the design elements are reminiscent of beautiful oriental traditions, including unusual low chairs and decorative pillows. Another interesting feature of the apartment is the travertine floor. Original catwalks and travertine terraces are formed in some rooms.
