LGA, one of the three largest airports in New York in the north part of Queens district, will have been operating for 80 years by 2019. It is located in Flushing Bay. An amusement park, and then an airfield used to be situated in its place. The municipal authorities later transformed this site into a full-fledged airport. The name of the airport changed several times, and, in the end, it was named after F. La Guardia, one of New York mayors.
The airport has four terminals (A, B, C, D) and two runways. La Guardia is meant for internal flights across the country. The passenger traffic amounts to 30 million people a year.
You can get to the airport or leave it by bus (city buses M60, Q33, Q48, Q72, Q47 are connected to New York subway). Private buses and taxi also run between the airport, Manhattan, and the Hudson Valley. Optionally, you can use a limousine or a minibus that admits up to 15 or 20 people. You can get a car at the points of services or at the self-service check-in machines in the arrival area of any terminal. There are vehicle information centres on both sides of the arrival area of Terminal B near the baggage claim areas. The airport can be reached by car via the Grand Central Parkway East from the side of Manhattan and via the Grand Central Parkway West from Long Island.
Car rental offices with all the necessary contact information are conveniently located in the arrival areas of all the airport terminals. LaGuardia Airport is cooperating with several vehicle rental companies. These are Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Thrifty.
The offices of Avis and Hertz are in the driveway to 81 Street, south of Terminal A. Alamo and National lie south of Terminal B, between 23 Avenue and Ditmars Boulevard. Budget and Payless are situated at the intersection of 23 Avenue and 88 Street.
The agencies provide free transfer service to the car receive points near the main terminal. Instead, you can use free shuttle delivery service. Red, blue and purple lines lead to car parks P4, P5, P6, and P10 in Terminals A, B, C, and D. You should just consult the placards in the terminal buildings. Hertz lets take leased cars from the car parks of the airport terminals. It is better to reserve a necessary car through online services free of charge.
