JFK Airport is one of the largest airports in New York and in USA. Located in the south-east of the city, in the Queens area. The airport operates with 90 airlines from different countries. It carries out international and domestic cargo and passenger transportation in US. The airport began functioning in 1947. The first name - "Idlewild" - appeared from the name of the golf course located here before. Later it was renamed to the "New York International Airport". Since 1963, it has become known as John F. Kennedy International Airport. During the whole period of its existence, 9 terminals have been built. Currently 6 terminals are active.
You can get to the airport by metro, city bus or suburban train. The easiest way to move around in the airport is by using Airtrain. It is a convenient and affordable type of public transport that operates inside the airport. It is conveniently connected to metro stations, parking, bus routes, and to all airport terminals.

In the arrival area, next to the luggage zone, there are information points for car rental. The rental conditions in these companies can differ, upon your reservation it is recommended to read the information about additional fees and taxes. Prior reservation and car selection is possible through international Internet services, such as: Orange Smile, Rental Cars 24h, Economy Bookings, Airport rental cars, etc. The prior reservation provides you a guarantee that a car will be ready at your preferred time and, in some cases, reduces the cost of rent by 20-30%.
Car rental offices are located on Federal Circle Bldg, more specifically - Avis, Dollar, Hertz, Paylesscar, SIXT, National, Enterprise, etc. You can quickly get to the car rental parking lots via Airtrain or by the transport provided by the rental offices. Some companies (Avis, Budget, Hertz, Alamo, Dollar, Thrifty, National, etc.) can bring your rented car to the terminal parking lot. Do not forget to ask your car location at the rental desk. Another area with car hire offices is located is Inwood (2 km from the airport).
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
The airport has five short-term parking lots and three long-term parking lots. Short-term parking is located in areas adjacent to terminals. These parking lots are quite expensive, but they have reserved places for disabled people. Long-stay parking lots are located in the area of the station Lefferts Blvd. JFK Airport hosts several high-quality hotels. A free shuttle service to these hotels is available at the Federal Circle station.
