The Art Nouveau city hosts two interesting fairs apart from the Christmas one. These are the Arts and Crafts Market taking place in mid-August where, as the name suggests, you can buy all kinds of hand-made products, and the Darmstadt Autumn Fair starting in mid-September and lasting until the beginning of October. Here you can buy products of the autumn season, and for locals, this is another reason to meet friends and acquaintances and, of course, have a good time.
In late August, gourmets gather at the Wine Festival Darmstadt where, as you might guess, visitors have a chance to taste the best wines from local producers. In addition, you can try all sorts of beer snacks. Centralstation serves as the venue. We can't fail to mention Weihnachtsmarkt that opens in Darmstadt in late November and lasts until Christmas on Ernst-Ludwig-Platz, Friedensplatz, Luisenplatz and, of course, Marketplatz. The atmosphere inherent in the pre-holiday mood cannot be confused with anything else - at this time all passers-by look like fantastic characters from a Christmas fairy tale. What if they really are?
Halloween is a holiday celebrated in almost every corner of the world - in Darmstadt, it has its own traditions and acquires a new color. It is held in a famous castle, which served as the inspiration for the first fantasy novel in history. We are talking about Burg Frankenstein located not far from the city. It must be said that a dark forest surrounding the castle and secret Odenwald valleys bring a lot of fun and a special Halloween romance to this mysterious place.
