Any excursion program must include a visit to the Darmstadt Artists' Colony. This is an old village located on the Matilda Hill founded in the late 19th century. It was home to artists who lived and worked here, the first exhibition took place in 1901. The first buildings presented to the audience was in the Art Nouveau style. The exhibition was a great success only among experts and remained incomprehensible to the general public. One cannot ignore the famous Rosenhöhe Park striking with an abundance of fruit groves, beautiful rose gardens, incredibly beautiful flower arrangements. A truly unique modern architecture monument is the residential complex "Forest Spiral". The multi-colored building has a very unusual shape of a spiral, there are no two identical windows on its facade. Besides, the building features a strong deviation from traditional rectangular shapes.
