The city changed its status during several decades. First it could be called simply a cow town, later it transformed into a town of gold-seekers and today it is a city exploiting so-called 'liquid gold', that is oil. The city has always attracted viewers and today the situation remained unchanged. The things that mainly attract tourists are: the mild climate, the sea and the almost continuous sunshine (about 292 days a year).
But things really changed in 1920s with the development of film making industry. That made a simple district Hollywood famous all over the world. Today it is recognized as the 'Entertainment Capital of the World' including such major film studious as Paramount, Universal, Fox and Warner Brothers.
Disneyland is situated in Los Angeles and is certainly worth visiting. There are also such famous places of interest as the Museum of Contemporary Art, the LA Philharmonic (now based in the striking Walt Disney Concert Hall), the Getty Museum and the Getty Villa.
