Since 1923 Ankara is the capital of Turkey, its second largest city after İstanbul and it is located in the center of the country.
Ulus or 'the heart of old Ankara' is a very interesting part of old city. Very famous is Kale - the fortress overlooking the city. The temple, also known as the Monumentum Ancyranum, was built between 25 BC - 20 BC and now it decorates the city. In ancient times Ancyra was the name of Ankara. Nowadays one of the most important places is the tomb of Haci Bayram. Even today some pilgrims say prayers in front of it.
One more interesting place is The Museum of Anatolian Civilization. It is situated at the entrance of Ankara Castle. Atatürk Moseleum is one of the most important places of interest. Atatürk is the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the first President.
