La Gomera is the island on the west of the Canary Islands. The total square of the island estimates 369.76 square kilometers. The island is also called the Island of Columbus as this famous person visited it in 1492, when he needed to replenish his food supply to continue his adventure to the lands of the New World. Garajonay peak that is located 1487 meters above the sea level is the tallest spot of the island.

Farming remains the main occupation of the native people of La Gomera. People grow various fruit and vegetables for their own use and banana, avocado, papaya and mango for export. Fruit are usually grown on wonderful plains of the island, while vegetables are mostly planted on its slopes. Besides farming this place is known for cattle raising. In La Gomera are grown goats. The milk of these animals is then used to make delicious cheese that is widely used in the local cuisine.
