Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

From series “The Most Beautiful Islands on the Planet”
The enchanting tiny island of Palm Island is part of the island state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Just a few years ago the island had a different name - Prun Island. After the new owners planted a few hundred palm trees on the island, it was decided to rename the island. The area of the private island is relatively small and forms about 54 hectares. A few years ago the excellent spa hotel was opened on its territory.

Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines The construction of the first hotel on the island was begun in 1966, by its owner John Coldwell. Even then the unique nature of the island attracted hundreds of travelers. At present there are 20 chic villas at the disposal of the island guests. All villas are built exclusively from eco-materials. On the coast, in the shade of the palm trees, the beautiful recreation zones are equipped with beach furniture, and the hammocks are stretched between the palms planted by the owner of the island.

Palm Island will not only appeal to followers, but also to the hikers. On Palm Island one can explore the strange natural sights, the exotic birds and the rare plant species. The island is also excellent for the divers. In the near vicinity of her there is a large selection of beautiful diving spots. Now about 30 people live on the island, all of which are the employees of the tourist complex. Next - Barbados Island

Here, a beautiful Cathedral of St. Mary is preserved, the construction of which took place in the beginning of the 19th century. The building was seriously damaged due to destructive elements. In 1930, the cathedral was completely restored and remained unchanged since then. It is incredibly interesting from an architectural point of view. Composed of dark volcanic blocks, it represents an amazing combination of Gothic, Moorish and Romanesque styles.
St. George's Cathedral is a true glimpse of the Gregorian style. Its construction was completed in the early 19th century. It is in its walls, that a unique relic presented by Queen Victoria - a Red Angel stained-glass window is kept. Among other unusual sights of the capital, the Botanical Garden is worth noting. The garden was founded in 1762 by William Bilai. The incoming captain decided to establish a commercial garden nursery on these fertile lands. Exotic plants were brought here from all corners of the world.

A popular pedestrian route - Bukament-Valley-Vermont-Neyche-Trail - begins in the immediate vicinity of the capital.
