Many travelers know the island of Turtle, which is part of the Fiji archipelago, among the other names - turtle island. The name reflects one of the main characteristics of the island - the turtles are the main inhabitants of the island. In addition, more than 100 species live on the island. In the coastal waters one can see more than 1 000 fish species and other representatives of the underwater world.

The flora of the island is just as diverse, on its territory scientists have discovered more than a thousand plant species. Many tourists come to the Turtle Island only to see dugongs - the rare sea mammals that look a little like the mythical mermaids. These strange animals can give the unique sounds that recall the crying of man. Most travelers visit the island in the period from April to November. At this time the green turtles lay the eggs on the sand coast.
Since 1970 Turtle Island is the private property and belongs to the businessman Richard Ewanson. Under his guidance, the eco-friendly Hotel Turtle Island Resort was opened on the island, offering guests 14 chic bungalows along the coast, surrounded by palm trees and exotic flowers. The owner has decided to develop the tourist infrastructure of the island after the important event - his island was chosen as the location of the film 'Blue Lagoon'. The hotel was established immediately after completion of the shooting.
