The first nuclear tests of India were made on Pokharan Test Site in 1974. It has placed on the territory of the heavy populated Rajasthani State. Since the foundation, the test site is a real threat for locals. This place for nuclear tests was formed as a result of the longstanding military conflict with Pakistan. In 1998 on Pokharan Test Site was made the hugest series, there were exploded five nuclear shells. Today the test site is a guarded off-limits area. The time of explosions is over, now it is used for other tests.
Now military men improve the technique of bombing and find other ways of usage the nuclear weapon. It is important to say that India is one of the countries in the whole world that has a nuclear triad. This state has all possible resources for the delivery of nuclear bombs: planes, specialized submarines, and even ballistic systems. As other world tests sites Pokharan is a secreted one. Many advanced countries get information about this only through the photos from space satellites.
In 2000 photos from the IKONOS-2 were blow the lid off. They showed that in some places the soil had subsidence. This could happen after another series of tests. Also, we can see some buildings that could be an entrance to the underground tunnels. This test site has seen the test of the most powerful nuclear shell in India. Some experts claim that its power was no less than 20 kilotons, others that the power of the explosion was no less than 30 kilotons.
