Mecca can boast the heaviest skyscraper in the world and the tallest building in Saudi Arabia, Abraj Al Bait. It’s an intricate and incredibly beautiful architectural complex of 601 meters height. The main decoration of the facade is the clock set at a height of over 400 meters; the diameter of the dial is 43 meters.
One of six towers is occupied by the hotel, which annually welcomes hundreds of thousands of pilgrims arriving to Mecca from all over the world. The architectural complex is home to the upscale shopping center and hundreds of stores; its large-scale infrastructure includes parking for 800 cars and two helipads.
This unique skyscraper was completed in 2012. It became the world champion on a number of parameters. First of all, the complex is the heaviest in the world and the second in height; it’s only behind the Burj Khalifa. The planet's tallest hotel is a part of the architectural structure, as well as the highest clock tower. This large-scale architectural complex is located in close proximity to Al-Haram, which is considered a major religious landmark of Mecca.
