There are very interesting religious sights on the island, as well. In the vicinity of the capital, is located the Basilica of Candelaria. This old church forms a single complex with an old Dominican monastery. It is distinguished by a spectacular design of the facade and numerous sophisticated elements. Its visitors can see beautiful terraces and cascades formed by frozen lava. In some places there're even frozen lava lakes.
