On the island, many luxurious old palaces, which today also work as museums, are preserved. A very interesting one is the Casa Rocca Piccola. From the time of its construction, it has almost not changed its appearance. For many years, the palace has belonged to one wealthy family. It contains an interesting collection of antique furniture, paintings and dishes, as well as other antiquities. Most of the rooms of the palace are accessible for tourists to visit.
The historical monument the Fort Saint Angelo is symbolical for Malta. It was built to protect the island back in the 11th century. It was used for its intended purpose for almost a thousand years. Even during the Second World War, military establishments were located on the territory of the fort. Despite the hundreds of battles that the fort had to endure, it was perfectly preserved and now continues to work as a historical museum.
