Among architectural landmarks of the destination the Palace of the Priors (Palazzo dei Priori) is of great tourist attraction. The palace presents a single complex with the Cathedral of Saint Lorenzo. The buildings of the landmark are executed in keeping to the best traditions of Gothic style. After the completion of the construction in the 14th century the palace served to public usage. At present this majestic historical building hosts the town council which proceedings are taking place in its halls.
The Cathedral of Saint Lorenzo (Cattedrale di San Lorenzo) deserves tourists attention as well. The building of the cathedral will be of great interest not only for the admirers of antique architecture but for pictorial art connoisseurs as well. Inner hall of the cathedral is decorated with genuine fresco paintings of artists of the 18th century. The crown of the precious collection of the Cathedral is the sarcophagus of bishop Giovanni Andrea Baglioni which was kept in the cathedral since 1451.
Among cultural establishments of the city the Umbria National Gallery (Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria) is best worth visiting. The scale gallery presents 40 halls. Every hall keeps unique collections of paintings, sculptures and other articles of art. The age of some showpieces is more than seven hundred years. Not far from the historical center of the city tourists will find the Etruscan shrine (Ipogeo dei Volumni). Tourists will discover there a unique landmark of Etruscan culture which is a well survived till nowadays tombstone dating back to the 3rd century BC.
