A little further and you will find one of the main streets of Petrarch’s hometown, the Corso Italia. Its final destination is Palazzo Pretorio, and along the street you can find many interesting tourist attractions – from churches to shops. Palazzo Pretorio was built at the junction of the 14th-15th centuries. The exterior of the palazzo is decorated with emblems and remains of frescoes. Inside, you can find the city library, where exhibitions are often held. How can you understand that an exhibition takes place here? Mostra will hang on the door. And, of course, it is a good idea to keep track of the upcoming events in order to get to an interesting one.
Borgo Medievale di Poppi, which is located in the north of Arezzo, is a beautifully preserved medieval city. You can get there on a lift, and having done this, you can see the excellent panorama of the city. The village is small, but it is very atmospheric and feels like it would be a large-scale one. The complex includes the Castello dei Conti Guidi di Poppi which was first mentioned in 1191, the Museo Della Battaglia Di Campaldino, as well as medieval churches, restaurants and shops, all of which is executed in a unique medieval style. The architect of the complex was Arnolfo di Cambio, who also built Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The castle is remarkable not only for its exterior, but also for its interior with beautiful frescoes, emblems and a library. You absolutely do not want to miss the tower of the castle.
