The beach season on the island opens in May and lasts until mid-November. The hottest month is August, when the daily temperature may be about +35°C. Fans of hiking excursions are recommended not to travel in summer; the weather is favorable for walking in September and October.
The vast part of island’s coastline is occupied by hotels. As a rule, each institution has its own beach fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Public beaches usually have no equipment, but you can rent it.
Thrifty travelers should pay attention to hotels in the southern part of the island. They differ with quite attractive prices and ample infrastructure; many tourists even don’t leave their hotels.
Local wine enjoys popularity as a souvenir. The most popular varieties are Cannonau Agriolas and La Cala; tourists are recommended to purchase drinks only in specialty stores.
The most common form of public transport is bus, but fans of excursions have to consider that they won’t get to all the attractions by bus. The fare depends on the distance; thus, the fare from the airport to the center of Cagliari will cost about 0.70 euros.
