Chania, Greece: Family Car Rental
The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Greece traditionally include the following vehicles: Audi A4, VW Passat, Renault Scenic, Honda Accord, Peugeot 508, Audi A3 and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Chania borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Chania might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Chania!

Driving Advices for Greece – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Drivers, who are accustomed to following the speed limit, will find it quite difficult to drive on local roads without breaking traffic regulations. If a vehicle that follows your car wants to overtake, you should move as close to the right as possible and give way to that car. It is possible to overtake cars only on the left.
In large cities, there are many intersections with circular motion. Drivers, who are about to enter the intersection, have the advantage at such intersections. It is better to make such maneuvers steadily and slowly.
When leaving a car, do not leave any valuables in it. Even if you plan to leave your car on a guarded parking lot, do not rely on this fact very much as the possibility of losing valuables is still very high.

Traveling in Chania with family car
In the center of the historical district of Chania, there is the Cathedral of the Three Martyrs that is the main cathedral in the city. The history of the temple is very interesting. In the 14th century, the St. Blessed Virgin Church was built at its site. Its main relic was the ancient icon. In the middle of the 17th century, the city was conquered by the Turks. They reconstructed the old church and opened the soap factory here. The main relic of the church has been preserved and stored in a warehouse for several hundred years. In the second half of the 19th century, one of the factory workers dreamed of the St. Virgin. She specified a path to the icon. When it was found, the temple was restored. Now, it is one of the most beautiful religious monuments in the neoclassic style.

In the city and its surroundings, there are several old monasteries, one of which is the Orthodox Gouverneto Monastery. It was found in 1548 but the founder’s name is still unknown. According to one of the legends, the initiator of the monastery construction was one of the wealthy local residents. The initial building was used for defensive purposes, so it resembles an impregnable fortress. The monastery was damaged in the period of the Second World War. It was completely restored only a few years ago.
