Kassel, Germany: Family Car Rental
The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Germany traditionally include the following vehicles: Mercedes C Class, Mercedes A Class, Toyota Avensis, Hyundai Sonata, Renault Scenic, Renault Megane and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Kassel borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Kassel might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Kassel!

Driving Advices for Germany – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
The cost of driving in the Warnowtunnel tunnel is about 3.5 euro for cars and about 4.5 euro for trucks and trailers. The ride through the Herrentunnel tunnel will cost motorists a lot cheaper – approximately 1.5 euro for cars, and around 2.5 euro for trucks and trailers.
There is a lack of parking space in major cities of the country. Moreover, in many streets only local residents are allowed to park their cars (Anliegerfrei). Parking in a wrong place will result in a large fine, and parking against the traffic is considered one of the most serious violations of traffic regulations.
In order to use some free public parking, you will need a special Parkscheibe disc, which can be purchased at petrol stations. The disc is secured under the windshield and before you leave the car, you will need to mark the time of arrival to the parking lot on it. The disk must be clearly visible.

An outstanding example of Baroque style is the Ottoman building, which was built in 1607. This building is known as the very first in Germany, built specifically to accommodate a theater. In the 18th century a new theater was built in the city, and the old building was used to store valuable city relics. At the end of the 17th century, the historical building housed an art gallery. During the Second World War, the construction was badly damaged. After the restoration of the building, a very interesting Natural History Museum was opened in it, which still works.
One of the most famous religious sites in Kassel is the Saint Martin’s Church, which was founded in the beginning of the 14th century. For hundreds of years, the church was rebuilt and supplemented with new elements. So now, its appearance is an amazing combination of different architectural styles. The last major reconstruction took place in the 50s of the last century, during which specialists were able to restore many old elements of the church decoration.

If these attractions are not enough, you can visit the Sababurg Castle located in the outskirts of the city. This castle is one of the oldest in the region. The first fortifications in its place were built during the Roman Empire. The first official mention of the castle dates back to the 14th century. At the present time a small hotel is equipped on the territory of the historic building.
