The Museum of the City of Freiburg situated in the spectacular Baroque building invites tourists in a fascinating tour. The museum tells the history of the development of industry and commerce in the city; some of its priceless exhibits date back to the early 12th century. An interesting collection of exhibits is devoted to the history of the cathedral. The museum is visited by about 20,000 visitors annually.
In the historic district there is Freiburg City Theater, the oldest and most beautiful theater in Freiburg. It was opened more than a hundred years ago. Today, the theater has four beautiful rooms and regularly delights its guests with bright premieres. In addition to theatrical productions, a variety of cultural events is carried there.
There are a lot of old buildings in the city; one of the most spectacular manors is Colombischlossle. The beautiful villa was built in the mid19th century and is made in a rather unusual architectural style. Experts treat its architecture style as a unique combination of classic English medieval and Tudor Gothic. In a remote area of the old town there is the Schlossberg tower, its height is 35 meters. It was built in 2002; there is a great viewing platform on the top of it. Schlossberg tower allows estimating the full panorama of the city, while other observation platforms provide only parts of it.
