It’s also worth to visit Castillo de San Servando. Many exciting stories and legends are associated with this 14th-century fortress. The last reconstruction of the castle took place in the middle of the last century. Now it is a regular venue for important business events. The most important religious landmark of the city is the Cathedral of Saint Mary striking with its skillful decoration.
The first religious building has been erected on the site of the cathedral in the 5th century; then Visigoth church was destroyed by invaders and a beautiful mosque was built on its site. According to historical documents the cathedral was laid in 1226; its construction lasted more than three hundred years.
Iglesia de San Miguel located next to the Alcazar fortress is notable too. Next to the beautiful Baroque church there is a large observation deck. Among the cultural venues the Santa Cruz Museum (Museo del Santa Cruz) is particularly popular. Its collection is very diverse and includes works of art, archaeological finds and a large collection of works by local artisans.
