In late August, a very interesting event is taking place in Tejina of Tenerife. Heart of Tejina Festival is dedicated to the patron of the town, St. Bartolomew. Traditionally, every family makes a big floral arrangement in the shape of heart; this staff is usually about two meters in height. Citizens decorate their compositions with the most unusual and colorful decorative elements and then take them along the main streets. The solemn procession stops at the central square of Tejina, where the best composition is selected. This fabulous holiday ends with the grand pyrotechnic show.
Travelers visiting the beautiful archipelago in November will take part in another interesting holiday, St. Andrew’s Day. It is celebrated in all the cities of the archipelago on 28 to 29 November. According to local tradition, the young wine is first tasted in this day. Wine making is also an important part of national culture. The Canary Islands has been producing unique gold wine for many centuries. According to one legend, in the 18th century Russian empress Catherine II was fond of this delicious wine.
