Sightseeing in Petach Tikva - what to see. Complete travel guide

In 1878 the immigrants from Israel founded a small farming village that got the name Em Ha'Moshavot, which could be literally translated "mother of villages". The village grew steadily and became more and more respectable place, so here appeared first machine-building plants and factories. In 1937 the settlement received the status of a town and became known as Petach Tikva.
Just like any old town, Petach Tikva is full of remarkable places and historical monuments, which attract travelers from other countries. One of the most well-known landmarks of this place is Tel Mulabis Mound. The archeological excavations don’t stop here even nowadays. They have revealed many artifacts from the first settlement (the Romans lived here in the prehistoric era).
The oldest architectural building that has survived till the present days is Antipatris Castle, which construction took place in the 13th century. The castle was the witness of many historical events and wars. Many years ago Alexander of Macedon fought with the Persians here, and even prior to that event important trade routes were laid on the territory of the modern town. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
One of the most notable buildings of Petach Tikva is located in the heart of the city. We are talking about Baron's Ark, which has been built in honor of an outstanding leader Baron Edmond de Rothschild. He provided much support to this town during its formation, so many streets and squares here are named after him.
The main market of the town is another place that will be curious to tourists. It traditionally attracts traders from all surrounding towns and villages. The market is so big that you can walk in it for hours, and a choice of products is simply astounding. After inspecting all historical sites and shops of Petach Tikva it’s time to make an excursion to Rosh ha-Ayin - Petach Tikva’s satellite town. In this place you will also find many interesting places and sightseeing routes.
The city's most visited cultural institution is the Museum of Art housing more than 3,000 works by outstanding masters. In this museum, you can see works of both famous Israeli and foreign artists, the age of many of the paintings presented here exceeds 200 years. The museum often holds temporary exhibitions devoted to the work of young artists.
A curious tourist attraction is the Santiago Calatrava Bridge that can be seen at the entrance to the city from the airport side. The design of this bridge is special - its supports are almost invisible. That's why it seems that it literally floats in the air at a first sight. Only a few modern bridges share such a feature. Travers can see another similar bridge in Jerusalem.
Not so long ago, a conservatory was opened in the city, a visit to which would be interesting for all music fans. It is equipped with several large concert halls; classical music performers from around the world, as well as popular musical bands from Israel, are frequent guests here.
Petach Tikva One of the favorite walking places for the locals and guests of the city is the central square. It is adorned with a beautiful fountain with a sculptural composition, and around the square, there are a lot of fruit trees. The main decoration of the square is monuments dedicated to the city founders- Yoel Moshe Salomon, Yehoshua Stampfer, Moshe Shmuel Raab and David Gutmann. In the immediate vicinity of the square, you can find many interesting monuments dedicated to the agricultural past of the town, as well as enjoy mandarin trees at every step.
Petah Tikva has one more interesting feature, which is not known to most tourists visiting the city. A few years ago, ten red telephone boxes brought from London were installed in the city. Now it is the only city in Israel where travelers can take a photo against the background of an original red box. They are located in different parts of the city, the search for these amazing sights can turn into an exciting quest. One of the London boxes is near Haim Ozer district where you can also find popular street food stalls.

Oak of Mamre

From the series “The Surviving Artifacts of Jewish Civilization”
The most amazing story is associated with the name of Philip of Luhansk, who in the early 20th century visited the shrine and took to homeland a sprig of already withered oak. He planted it near Ilinka station in Rostov region in Russia. In a few years, a lifeless sprig became a nice young tree, next to which a healing spring appeared later. At the moment, the old oak has a guardian. That’s a local resident, Anwar, who is caring for the tree. He is always happy to arrange guided tours for tourists, as well as to encourage them to buy uncommon souvenirs, which are bark of the ancient oak and its acorns. … Read further
