Dubai Duty Free, the retailer in Dubai International Airport, also owns a 5-star hotel at the Aviation Club. As it has been recently announced, this hotel will be operated by Jumeirah. The property is scheduled for opening this year.
The hotel in Dubai is located on the territory of the Aviation Club just nearby the airport. The Aviation Club is an upscale sport and leisure complex. Dubai Tennis Championship takes place each year here. The windows of this luxury 293 guestroom accommodation face Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. The hotel has two bars, two restaurants, two lounges, a health club, a SPA, a conference hall and a banquet space.
As Colm McLoughlin, the managing director of Dubai Duty Free, states, the choice has been made in favor of Jumeirah because this company has rich experience in operating upscale properties. Moreover, the company has several successful hotels in Dubai as well. Jumeirah has expanded its business considerably within several years and so Dubai Duty Free hopes the new hotel will be a valuable addition to the business portfolio of the company.
The owners hope the hotel in Dubai Airport will become popular among both business and leisure travellers. The first group may like the proximity to the airport and the second group of tourists may be attracted by rich selection of sporting and leisure activities.
This year Jumeirah plans to open 6 accommodations. Among them are Jumeirah Etihad Towers hotel in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai, Jumeirah Vitavelli in the Maldives, Jumeirah Himalayas hotel in Shanghai, and Jumeirah hotel in Frankfurt. New accommodations in Kuwait and Azerbaijan are yet under question.
