Hoover Dam, which is located in the USA on the Colorado River, is the unique hydrotechnical structure. This dam is one of the oldest in the world and has been one of the highest dams on earth for several decades. The construction of the dam lasted five years and ended in 1936, its height being 221 meters.

Despite the impressive age, the Hoover Dam is one of the most complicated architectural structures of its kind. The first dam project was simple, which is why it was rejected. The opening of the hydroelectric power station was of great importance, so the appearance of the structure had to correspond to the importance of the event. The dam, which can be seen today, is a classic example of Art Deco. Hoover Dam is adorned with delicate battlements, and the beautiful clock was fastened in the catchment area.

The tourists who visited this remarkable sight know that the Autostraße - route 93 stretches on the dam. Every year more than a million tourists from all over the world visit the Hoover Dam. Most of the money earned by the excursions is invested in the operation and ongoing maintenance of the dam. According to the 2001 terrorist acts, traffic was confined to the causeway, and in 2010 the new facility - Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Bridge was built.
