Al-Batha district is the oldest part of the city. It is situated in the center of Riyadh. Here you can see main historical monuments and learn many interesting facts about the history of Riyadh. Masmak Fortress that was built in the middle of the 19th century is one of greatest places of interest. Several years ago the building was carefully restored and a distinct wing of the fortress was turned into a hotel. Other rooms of the fortress have been converted into a museum, where visitors will enjoy elegant furniture and other decorative items, many of which are considered priceless. However, Museum of Riyadh, which can be found in the western part of the city, has the most valuable exposition.
