The Senso-ji Temple. The Senso-ji Temple was built in 628 AD with the aim of keeping there the golden statue of Bodhisattva Kwannon (the god of benevolence). It is one of the most important Buddhist temples that for centuries attract palmers and tourists from all the corners of the world. In Edo epoch there took place the city center (Shitamachi) and streets, shops and restaurants, located around the temple have special ancient charm. Every year in Asakusa on the third weekend of May they organize the Sanja Festival. At this time procession they carry along the streets hundreds of mikoshi (the portable Shinto altars) in a noisy solemn.
