The most important sights in the Old Town are the Landesmuseum Johanneum, a complex of museums; Dom (cathedral), a wonderful example of Gothic architecture; the Alte Galerie with its excellent collection of paintings and sculptures from the Romanesque to the Baroque period; the Neue Galerie with paintings from the 19th-20th centuries; the Landhaus where the parliament of Styria resides; armoury Landeszeughaus; and Gemaltes Haus ('painted house'). The Mausoleum of Emperor Ferdinand II includes the grave of Ferdinand II and his wife as well as and a church dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria.
All visitors like visiting the Schlossberg (Castle Hill) with its Uhrtrum clock tower, the symbol of Graz. Schlossberg will reward you with fantastic views.
Outside of the Old Town you will find Schloss Eggenberg, a beautiful 16th-century palace dominated by themes and symbols from astronomy. There are 365 windows and 24 state rooms. A famous Planet Hall has frescoes that show 12 signs of the zodiac and 7 planets.
There are a lot of interesting festivals in Graz, for example the 'Styriate', 'Jazz Summer', 'Styrian Autumn' (Steirischer Herbst), 'La Strada', and 'Classics in the City'. Most of them are free for visitors.
