Sightseeing in St Julians - what to see. Complete travel guide

St. Julians St. Julian's is a small town in Malta located not far away from the country’s capital, Valletta. You can see the outline of the capital from the town’s embankment. This place is particularly popular in the evening, when the flickering lights of Valletta attract both visitors and locals. St. Julian's was built around once lonely old St. Julian Church and Spinola Palace designed by the noble Italian knight. Steadily new people settled in the city; wealthy people started choosing this place for their rest and started coming here more often, gradually turning St. Julian’s into a resort.
Nowadays St. Julian’s is a popular entertainment center of Malta, and its major trading center. All entertainments are mostly focused on youth or middle-aged tourists. Here tourists can visit Quarter Paceville, which is famous for its nightlife and diverse range of services and various recreational facilities. Here you can attend many discos, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and casinos, play bowling or visit a giant movie theater with 15 halls.
The historic district of the city is the location of magnificent ancient monuments and fortifications – here you will see a watch tower of St. George located next to barracks, old coastal fortifications, and main architectural places of interest – Dragonara and Spinola palaces, the Church of Immaculate Conception, St. Julian Church, Church of the Virgin Mary – Mother, Church of St. Rita, Church of Saint Clara, and Millennium Chapel. The city has many excellent monuments of modern architecture. The Portomaso Business Tower is the most recognizable one. This spectacular 23-story building was built in 2001. Today, it houses a prestigious business center. The spectacular tower building is usually considered a single complex with a nearby yacht marina. This picturesque area offers many attractive restaurants and cafes.
Spinola Bay, St Julians Nearby, next to the Temple of Ballut, you can see an original monument to the Love. The unveiling of the memorial was held just a few years ago. It represents a word Love, recorded upside down. It can be read only if you look at the reflection of letters in the water. Due to this unusual feature, the modern monument has become one of the most photographed objects in the city.
The Independence Park is located near St. Julian Bay, in one of the most remote areas. It will definitely appeal to amateurs of hiking and outdoor recreation. The park is attractive with a variety of landscape decorations. It contains many convenient walking paths. They regularly renew design of the park, so it will be of interest to even those who have already visited these places before.
Spinola Bay, St Julians, Malta, from the pool deck of the Juliani Hotel Dragonera casino has become an original symbol of the city. It was opened in 1964 and is the oldest casino in Malta. The historic building that houses the casino, was built in 1870 and originally belonged to one wealthy local banker. Nowadays, the casino offers its guests hundreds of ways to take chances. It employs about 200 slot machines. One of the main features of the casino is an automatic roulette, designed for 12 seats.
One of the most beautiful and quiet places in the city is Spinola Bay. This area is notable for lack of dense buildings, so there is nothing to prevent vacationers from admiring the bay and the boats of locals moored at the shore. The most spectacular pictures of the bay can be taken at sunset. At this time of day, they turn on fabulous illumination. The tranquil setting makes the bay an attractive place for ducks. Every time you go there, take some bread with you to feed the birds.

From the series “Incredible Natural Arches Built by Water and Wind”
Two majestic rocks supports the arch, the height of the natural bridge is about 50 meters. In 2012, from one of the rocks that supports the arch, a large stone broke off, which made the design even more fragile. Presently, tourists are not recommended to come close. It is extremely dangerous to swim near rocks and to dive. Even admiring the landmark from a safe distance can give a lot of unforgettable impressions. … Read further
