Chinese Jiuzhaigou Valley is famous due to the fantastic scenery, in the existence of which it’s hard to believe. It is situated in the immediate vicinity of the city of Chengdu and occupies an area of about 720 square km. The majestic valley features incredibly picturesque forests and crystal clear lakes with fascinating waterfalls. There are more than 2 500 plants in the valley. In 1992, Jiuzhaigou Valley was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A colored lake and multi-level waterfalls are main jewels of the place.
In a few years, the valley has gained immense popularity among tourists. In the last few years, it was visited by an average of 7 000 people a day. During a high season, a number of visitors is about 12 000 people per day. It is noteworthy that there are several small settlements in the reserve, which can be amazing as a part of the tour. There travelers can see great architecture and historical sites, learn about the life and lifestyle of the indigenous population, as well as buy unique souvenirs.
However, the Jiuzhaigou Valley primarily attracts nature lovers. Travelers from all over the world come here to admire the colored lakes, which are stained in different colors of the rainbow because of specific types of bacteria. Rare inhabitants, including some species of monkeys and giant panda, can be found in reserves. Those who like to walk in deserted places, like Tsza Zhu district, as it is one of the least visited. Here, you can see an ancient Buddhist monastery, take a stroll through the quiet forests and admire the rare plant species.
