Airport location, terminals and transportation
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is situated between two cities in the U.S. state of Washington, which are Tacoma and Seattle. It is a large commercial air terminal of the state. It is both passenger and cargo one. The airport services roughly 47 million people a year. It was built and put into operation in 1944. In 1949, when the airport started handling international flights, it received the status of the international airport. The airport encompasses the main passenger terminal building, 2 satellite terminal buildings, and 3 runways. The satellite terminals are the North Satellite Terminal and the South Satellite Terminal. The Main Terminal is divided into 4 concourses, which are A, B, C, and D. The North and South Satellite Terminals are connected to the Main Terminal by an underground people mover system.
You can get from the airport to the cities of Seattle and Tacoma by light rail (pick-up at the fourth level of the parking garage), buses with a change to metro, transit express buses (to the adjacent localities and Canada), shuttles, taxi (contact information can be found at the third level of the parking garage), or rental cars. The bus stops are positioned near the exits from the parking lot as well as in the Main Terminal (for express buses).
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
At Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, vehicle rental firms operate in designated areas in satellite terminals. They are called car rental facilities. The facilities are positioned behind the baggage claim halls. Round-the-clock shuttle buses take clients from the Main Terminal to the car rental facilities and back. From Gate 02 a shuttle goes to the car rental facility of the South Satellite Terminal, and from Gate 26 a shuttle goes to the facility of the North Satellite Terminal. The information desks of the vehicle hire agencies are found at the exit of the baggage claim hall. Several major car rental companies provide their services at SEA. These are Alamo, Avis, Budget rent a car, Enterprise, Dollar, Hertz, Fox rent a car, National, Payless rent a car, Sixt, EZ, Firefly, and Thrifty.
In order to rent a car in the facility, you will be required to present a valid national or international driver's license and an identity card. While driving a car, you must always have your driver's license, your identity card, a car insurance policy, and a warning triangle (in case of an accident situation).
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
A parking garage is placed opposite the Central Terminal. The parking garage is divided into areas. Short-term daily parking is located on the 4th floor, while floors 1-3, 5-8 are for both short-term and long-term parking. Parking spaces for heavy vehicles are also available.
Free shuttles, which depart from the third level of the parking garage (Zones 1 and 3), carry passengers to most local hotels and inns. The following hotels are nestled next to Seattle–Tacoma International Airport: the Hilton, the Red Roof Inn, the Red Lion Hotel, the La Quinta Inn, the Crowne Plaza, the Coast Gateway Hotel, and the Clarion Seatac. The hotels are set just 4 or 6 minute drive from the airport.
